Just a few minutes walk from where I live, there used to be an iron age farm.
The farm was by the sea but as the land elevation has been about 20 meters since then, the place is now 500 meters from the sea, in the forest. In the 1970s and 1980s the place was excavated by archaeologists and then they marked out where the buildings and graves had been.
The iron age farm was then reconstructed just a few hundred meters away, where the waterline is today, and is now a tourist attraction during the summer.
I am more fascinated about the original place though! I usually pass the place on my walks. A very restful glade all surrounded by big pine trees, where I can stop and contemplate about life 2000 years ago and the people that once lived there and left their footprints.
A picture will not say much as it is really just a glade, with hundreds of poles stuck in the ground, but it is a special place for me. I can not describe the place better then with the word "peaceful".

I like to visit places like this too, not sure why but they put you in touch with the past I suppose.
